| sweaty! |
We had a lot of fun. It was after work when we got home so it was hot and the air was thick. We went about a mile and a half.
I was fine, just sweaty.
Thought this would bother me a lot more since I have not been very kind to my body and I have gained weight. I'm disappointed in that, but this campaign to run for the money to go to cooking school is certainly motivation enough. When we got back I did about 30 minutes of core strengthening. Oh, yes I do know what to do. This isn't my first time getting in shape.
In case you were thinking otherwise, I will proudly tell you I have completed 2 5k's in the mountains of NH at Rockywold Deephaven, a family camp in the woods. It is on lake Winnepesaukee(did I spell that correct?) it is the land of Pocahontas and Freddy Kruger. I was a child of the 80's and watching that movie forever changed my swimming experiences and sleep habits forever. I slept in my brothers' room for a year and as an adult even going to this camp for 5 years in a row I only ever fully went out in the water swimming once. That was the first time I was there. I realised mid way to the dock in the middle of the lake and that at any moment HE could swim up and kill me. Laughing hysterically at myself now I got to the dock and realised I had to get back. My stepdaughter had to bring the float out to me and we paddled back. Never again after that. So even after the grueling 5k(yes it was...hilly course) I could not go in and cool off!
I also completed the Philadelphia 1/2 marathon. My mom was there for that one and I will never forget the look of pride as I came around to the finish line. (will photo the medal some time and share)
I decided to go back to running in Saucony's. these were the first shoe I was ever fitted for and loved them. I have been in Adidas, Nike, and even Brooks. None felt the way that Saucony's did. As you know that you could run naked(not me) and it wouldn't matter as much as the right running shoe. I am very happy with the girls.
There is a company I have just recently heard about and if I get a chance to actually do this run in either NY State or Ireland I would love to maybe try them. I think they may be a good shoe for me. They are called HOKA. A really innovative design with an over sized fit and a maximum cushion.
For now its these gals.
I am really looking forward to having you get to know me and see my passion for food and running through this blog. Maybe if you get to know me better you will understand why I want to do this.
I will say this, If you have seen Billy Elliot at the part where he is auditioning in London for the Royal Ballet and he says he doesn't know why he dances, his mind goes blank and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0tTT_87Hh8
Well I am happy with my first day of training and campaigning. I have a long way to go with both so come back and see how I am doing. Thank for reading and sharing your time with me on my chronicle.
Slainte!, Namaste!
